Christina Applegate is "grateful" to have a future.
The 'Samantha Who?' actress - who battled breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy in 2008 - is thrilled to be engaged to musician Martyn Lenoble and can't wait to see what the future holds.
She said: "This chapter of my life is bigger, better, more exciting. I'm looking forward to everything my life has to offer. I feel incredibly grateful.
"We don't even know when the wedding will be. We're just living right now."
The 38-year-old star admitted although she has a more positive outlook on life now, she occasionally experiences feelings of self-pity but does everything she can to make life run smoothly for herself.
She added to People magazine: "I fall short. I get into self-pity and all of those things you do ... but at the end of the day, this is the day that I'm living and I need to rejoice in it.
"Stress isn't something I really allow into my life. It creeps in but that's a huge thing, changing my diet, changing my want to make every day the best that I can."
