Judge postpones Charlie Sheen hearing on stay away order

LOS ANGELES - A Colorado judge on Thursday postponed a hearing on actor Charlie Sheen's request to dismiss the stay-away order against his wife, citing her illness after she was hospitalized with a high fever.

Judge James Boyd moved the Friday hearing to February 8, which is also when Sheen will find out whether he is formally charged with assault, menacing and criminal mischief against his wife, stemming from a Christmas Day dispute between the couple.

Sheen's wife, Brooke Mueller, was hospitalized this week in Los Angeles with a high fever and suspected pneumonia.

Sheen visited her in the hospital on Wednesday as his lawyers scrambled to get the judge's permission to temporarily resume contact with her, fueling reports that the couple want to reconcile.

Sheen, the son of actor Martin Sheen, stars in the CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men."
