BOSTON - Dark-eyed beauty Anne Hathaway has been dubbed "Woman of the Year" by Harvard's Hasty Pudding Club for her "contribution to entertainment."
The award from the oldest college theatrical group in the United States will include a parade through Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a roast in Hathaway's honor on January 28.
In 2009 Hathaway, 27, charmed audiences in the film "Bride Wars," appeared at New York's summer Shakespeare Festival, and recorded a guest voice for an episode of "The Simpsons" due to air this year.
In recent years, she has appeared in films ranging from "The Devil Wears Prada" to "Brokeback Mountain," and portrayed novelist Jane Austen in 2007's "Becoming Jane."
Past winners of the award include: Renee Zellweger, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon, Ella Fitzgerald and Lauren Bacall. The award was first given in 1951 to English actress and comedian Gertrude Lawrence.
The group has yet to name its 2010 Man of the Year. Last year's winner was actor James Franco. Christopher Walken and Warren Beatty are among the past winners.
The Hasty Pudding Club was formed in 1795 by a group of Harvard students, who pledged that members "shall provide a pot of hasty pudding for every meeting."
The club has staged a student-written comedy revue each year since 1844 with the exception of during the World Wars.
