The 30-year-old Babyshambles frontman escaped a prison term at Gloucester Crown Court after admitting careless and drink driving following a gig in the city in June, but he was banned from driving for 18 months and fined 2,050 pounds ($3,300).

Police officers then escorted him from the court to the police station across the road, according to the Press Association.

Gloucester police confirmed he had been arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug on Monday, although they did not specify what type.

"A 30-year-old man from Wiltshire has been arrested ... on suspicion of possession on a controlled substance," a spokeswoman said. "He is currently assisting police with their inquiries."
