Cardboard cop Brad Pitt

Cut-outs of Brad Pitt are being used in Russia to curb reckless driving.

Police in Omsk, South Russia, have placed life-size cardboard replicas of the 'Inglorious Basterds' actor dressed as a traffic policeman at the most dangerous intersections of the city, to try and deter motorists from speeding.

A regional paper quotes Dmitry Ziryanov, the local official who reportedly came up with the idea, as saying: "Brad is kind of like a colleague for us."

Meanwhile Brad, 45, reportedly spent close to $1 million on artworks for his collection at a Switzerland's Art Basel fair this week.

Brad invested $960,000 in German artist Neo Rauch's 1998 painting 'Etappe', which depicts a racing car being tuned up in the middle of a competition.

Brad's art collector friend Eli Broad revealed the actor was hesitating about the purchase until he said: "I told him we had four Rauchs and if he didn't buy it, we probably would."
