Shocking behind-the-scenes secrets of Sex And The City are poised for exposure in a new tell-all book.

Clifford Streit, former manager of author Candace Bushnell - who wrote the novel which inspired the HBO TV show - is reportedly pitching the idea of an explosive memoir about the programme to publishing houses.

According to MSNBC.com, the book is provisionally titled Unbecoming Stanford - after the character Stanford Blatch, Carrie's flamboyant gay friend who was originally intended to be a caricature of Streit.

The proposal could cause an upset for the stars of the hit programme as it is said to detail a real-life affair that took place between two of the show's on-screen lovers. Streit also promises to reveal the truth about tensions between Kim Cattrall, who plays man-eater Samantha Jones, and the rest of the cast.

Another revelation set to be published tells how executive producer Darren Star allegedly turned down Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher for a part in the show, stating, "I don't see this kid going anywhere."
