Former Prime Minister Tony Blair has been urged to forget politics for good - and take up acting instead.

The Simpsons writer Al Jean was so impressed by the ex-statesman's guest performance on the hit animated series, he's confident Hollywood beckons now Blair has left government.

Jean says, "Tony Blair should go into acting now.

"He was great when he did his cameo in The Simpsons. He was so good, we were able to use his first take because he was so good."

Blair taped his voiceover in April 2003, at the height of the Iraq war. In the episode, he meets the Simpsons at London's Heathrow Airport and invites them for tea at his official residence, No. 10 Downing Street.

Blair stepped down from his post on 27 June, and was replaced by current Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
