LOS ANGELES - Tom Sizemore was taken away in handcuffs Tuesday after he surrendered to face a court hearing on charges that his recent arrest for possessing methamphetamines violated probation in a previous drug case.

The "Saving Private Ryan" actor, wearing a loosened tie, got out of a convertible in front of Los Angeles County's Airport Courthouse.

"I'm OK," he repeated to a KABC-TV reporter who asked how he was doing.

In court, Sizemore, 45, was ordered held pending an afternoon hearing to determine if he should be granted bail and when his probation violation hearing would be held.

"The bailiff handcuffed him and took him away," said Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office.

Sizemore was arrested last month at a hotel in Bakersfield in Kern County. Authorities said they found drugs inside his car.

He was released but a Los Angeles judge later issued a warrant for his arrest for violating probation issued last year in another methamphetamine case. If convicted, he could be forced to serve out a 16-month prison sentence.

In the Bakersfield case, Sizemore has pleaded not guilty to seven drug-related charges, including transportation and possession of methamphetamines, possession of prescription drugs without the proper prescription and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

He faces up to six years in prison if convicted.
