Ugly Betty not happy about new Traveling Pants journey

It's an old story in Hollywood, but one that never stops rearing its head. An actress makes a film and it flops at the box office and quietly goes away. Years later, one of the stars becomes hugely popular in a life-defining role and suddenly the old film¡¯s producers want a sequel.

This time the cliche is happening to Ugly Betty star America Ferrera as the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is gearing up to bring the jeans out of the closet for another round.

Conveniently enough, producers are ready to film during the Ugly Betty hiatus this summer. The catch, as it always is in this old sordid tale, is Ferrera - as well as her Pants costars Amber Tamblyn, Blake Lively and Alexis Bledel - all have signed contracts for the Ann Brashares' penned literary series that initially were meant to become more than one film. Because of poor box office, that never happened.

After the 2002 film passed quietly into the night, Brashares thought the film series was over. Then Salma Hayek brought a little Spanish telenova to America, the country and the actress, and the rest is history.

As Ferrera is ready to embark on her first post I¡¯m-in-a-hit-show summer, she probably never thought she¡¯s be putting on an old pair of jeans instead of exploring newer options¡ perhaps a role worthy of an Oscar dress?
