Washington - Mexican born actress Salma Hayek strongly feels that woman should not be in a hurry to have kids because 'motherhood is not for everyone'.

Hayek: Motherhood is not for everyone!

The actress, who is expecting her first child, said that though she definitely wanted to have children, there were women who didn't, and they should not be pressurised into becoming mothers.

"Motherhood is not for everyone. It is for me, but there's no reason women should feel rushed to have a child," People magazine quoted Hayek, as telling Marie Claire in its May issue.

In the interview the actress, who announced her engagement to businessman Frangois-Henri Pinault, said that a woman can have a great professional life, but society considers her to be incomplete if she doesn't have children.

"Society thinks if you don't have children, you've failed as a woman, even if you are CEO of a company," she said.

The 40-year-old actress also said that there are lots of impossible standards expected from a woman.

"You've got to be beautiful, smart, skinny, tall, rich, successful at your job, married to the right guy - and have genius children. And by the way, you also have to be a nun," she said.
