Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan has apologised and asked for public forgiveness after drunkenly swearing and disrupting a music concert, a report said.

Leading Hong Kong radio show host Candy Chea said Chan admitted to her that he was drunk when he jumped on stage at a concert Monday, explaining that he "forgot there were so many people watching".

"But Chan also said this was his first time, and it had never happened before," Chea said, adding that he apologised and asked for forgiveness from the public on Thursday.

Chea, who reported their conservation on her show Thursday, said the "Rush Hour" star told her that he had drunk too much that night after entertaining Japanese friends.

Chan said he did not mean to offend the public and added he would behave better in future, she said.

Hong Kong newspapers reported that Chan appeared at Taiwanese pop singer Jonathan Lee's concert in Hong Kong and unexpectedly jumped on stage before demanding a duet with him.

Realising his erratic behaviour, Chan reportedly admitted that he was drunk before bowing and apologising to the audience on stage.

But he continued to try to conduct Lee's band, making them start and stop six times before he was satisfied with the music they were playing.

Chan, who starred in the popular film "Drunken Master", also uttered a swear word on stage and bellowed "shut up", much to the surprise of the unhappy audience which booed and hurled insults at the star.

In return, he shouted back with another foul word, the press reports said.

Chan's pop singer son Jaycee Chan, whose mentor was Lee, has already repeatedly apologised for his father's behaviour.

Chan's management confirmed that the action star had spoke with Chea about the incident.
