The massive mudslide that hit Wenchuan, Sichuan, Saturday had killed 15 people and injured 9 others by Monday, said local authorities. More than 50,000 residents and tourists were forced to evacuate.
The death toll from the landslide in Zhouqu, Gansu has risen to 1,270, with 474 others still missing. The Land and Resources Ministry has identified 70 potentially dangerous sites in the area and is closely monitoring them. The weather bureau says more rain is expected to strike the disaster zone over the next 4 days and will bring more mude to Zhouqu, creating more troubles for the rescuers.
