Hello Kitty, the cartoonish white cat created by the Sanrio Corporation in 1974, may be running out of product lives, the New York Times reported. The popularity of the cute cat is waning and its sales have shrunk for a decade. Analysts say part of the problem is that Sanrio has oversold Hello Kitty, which appears on products as various as T-shirts, toilet paper and toasters. Now the company is struggling to find the next-generation version of adorable.

 

 

 

 

 

据《纽约时报》报道,已有36年历史的卡通形象Hello Kitty濒临丧失品牌生命力的危险,其产品销售额已连续10年下滑。分析人士称,Hello Kitty影响力下降的部分原因在于东家Sanrio公司对其形象使用过度,产品太滥太多,甚至在T恤、卫生纸和烤面包机上都能看到这只可爱的白猫。目前Sanrio公司正努力寻找Hello Kitty新的接班人。
