Tsai Feng-wen, a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) member, slapped his face (see photo) 3 times during a press conference presented by Wong Chung-chun, a Kuomintang (KMT) candidate vying for the post of Chiayi County magistrate, United Daily News reported Monday. Tsai said the self-punishment was made for supporting Chen Shui-bian 8 years ago, who turned out to be involved with briberies. In his capacity as a DPP member, Tsai openly supported Wong in the magistrate election.
