England captain David Beckham faced fresh allegations about his private life on Sunday after a second woman told a British newspaper that she had slept with the Real Madrid star.

The tabloidsaga of soccer star David Beckham's love life took a fresh twist Sunday when a second woman reportedly claimed she'd had an affair with him.

Malaysian-born model Sarah Marbeck, 29, was quoted as telling the News of the World tabloid she had sex with Beckham hours after meeting him in Singapore in July 2001. She said they spent their second and last night together in March 2002.

"Sleeping with David Beckham was a momentous day for me, not just a one night stand," Marbeck, who now lives in Australia, was quoted by the newspaper as saying.

Last week the newspaper reported that Beckham had a sexual relationship with his personal assistant Rebecca Loos, 26, between September and December. Beckham, captain of England's national soccer team, issued a statement describing the Loos story as "ludicrous," but that did nothing to dampen the media frenzy.

A spokeswoman for Beckham said Sunday that he was preparing for his team Real Madrid's game against Atletico Osasuna and could not be reached for comment on the Marbeck claim. She declined to be identified.

A call to the Melbourne, Australia office of Marbeck's lawyer Michael Brereton went unanswered late Sunday.

The story of Beckham's alleged infidelity has dominated tabloid front pages in Britain for a week, though it has been largely ignored by the press in Spain.

The News of the World devoted seven pages on Sunday to Beckham's alleged affair with Marbeck and a further five pages to an interview with Loos.

Marbeck told the newspaper she met the soccer iconat a party in Singapore during Manchester United's pre-season tour of the Far East, while Beckham was on that team. She said he invited her back to his hotel room, where they had sex.

According to the report, she saw Beckham again in March 2002 in Britain when she watched him play for the England team against Italy and later went back to his hotel room.

She claimed they called and sent mobile phone text messages to each other for at least a year, before they lost touch.

The News of the World quoted Loos as saying Beckham was lonely after moving last summer to Spain to play for Real Madrid.

His wife Victoria, a former member of the Spice Girls pop band, spends most of her time in England with the couple's two young sons, 5-year-old Brooklyn and 18-month-old Romeo. She has been trying to rekindle her flagging pop career.

Beckham is one of the most recognizable names in Britain and the world's most famous soccer player. In Britain, he and Victoria have been treated as royalty and the country's top celebrity couple.

Apart from his multi-million-dollar salary, Beckham earns a fortune from endorsements for sunglasses, soft drinks, mobile phones and other products.
