口语中叫人不要惊慌有：Don't go hitting the panic button的说法：Don't go hitting the panic button, I'm sure you can solve the problem with a little rational thought。劝朋友遇到什么问题时不要惊慌，认为他略作理智地考虑定能解决问题。Hit (push) the panic button亦作press the panic button，但press似乎没有hit那么慌张。有时人们会开玩笑地把各种各样的按钮叫作panic button。此外，如果一个人头脑有问题，我们说他：He has a few buttons missing，掉了几个“按钮”，不灵了。
