学期末教授要求我们作一个小组报告，我和几名小组成员拿不准教授会出什么样的刁难问题而发愁，最后同学们说： "Why don't we play it by ear?" (我们为什么不[动]耳朵呢？) 我觉得莫名其妙，反问大家："我只听说过动脑筋才能想出办法，动耳朵能管用吗？"
大家听完我的话，笑得前仰后合，等他们好不容易喘过气来，才告诉我 "play something by ear"的意思是"到时见机行事"。
