Package tours give room to move
(Shenzhen Daily)
Updated: 2005-04-13 10:37

Guangzhou travel agents will be promoting a new package holiday tour which should give holidaymakers room to do their own things for the May Day holiday "golden week."

The new tours don't start at 8 a.m. instead of 6 a.m. and will only go to one to three destinations a day.

Group members don't have to spend 30 minutes in designated shops and will even get some time to do whatever they like.

The new tour's price is similar to traditional package deals, but only half as much as individual tours.

Travel agents promoting the new tours said traditional tour organizers usually arranged everything for members including meals, transportation, sightseeing and shopping and hurried through many destinations.

Bu Likai, a travel agency manager, said the normal six-day Yunnan Province tour went 17 scenic spots and four shopping trips in six days, while the new tour will only go to 13 scenic spots and cancel all shopping trips.

He said the tour stayed in the laid-back ancient town of Lijiang for two nights with a half-day scheduled break, making it ideal for party animals.
