Practical solution welcomed to Iran's nuclear case

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said here Tuesday Beijing welcomed all formulas or measures that would lead to a speedy settlement of Iran's nuclear case.

Talking to reporters, Liu did not touch on reports in the Western media that certain states, including China and Russia, were being encouraged to set up a united front in support of Iran, and said China supports a speedy settlement of the issue within the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Beijing favors resumption of Iran's negotiations with the three European states (Germany, France, and Britain) to find a long-term solution to the case.

The IAEA 35-nation IAEA Governing Board is scheduled to discuss the Iran nuclear issue on Thursday.
