Three Gorges dam opens to public

About 100 people, relocated for the construction of the Three Gorges Dam project, take an oath to join the Communist Party of China on the dam in Yichang, central China's Hubei Province July 1, 2005. The dam opened to the public on Friday. Some 1,000 visitors a day, for a price of 68 yuan ($8) per person, are allowed to tour the dam, which blocks the Yangtze River. July 1 marks the 84th anniversary of the founding the Communist Party. [newsphoto]
