HONG KONG -- Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang applauded the successful launch and smooth return of the Shenzhou-6 spacecraft on Monday morning.

The chief executive, on behalf of all the people of Hong Kong, extended the warmest congratulations to the Central Government in his letter to President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao, according to a Hong Kong government source on Monday.

"The success of Shenzhou-6 demonstrates the strength of our motherland and highlights our nation's courage and faith," Tsang said.

"From the successful mission of Shenzhou-6, we see the brilliant future of our country," added he.

Tsang also suggested in his letter to the Central Government that astronauts Fei Junlong and Nie Haisheng be invited to Hong Kong with the personnel who mastered this landmark project.

It is suggested that the visit will enable Hong Kong people to see the astronauts and other personnel in person, to share their successful experience of this mission and to pay tribute to the heroic crew members.
