Bus-truck pile-up kills five, injures 30 in E. China

Five people were killed and 30 others injured in a bus-truck pile-up that occurred in east China's Jiangxi Province early Tuesday morning, local police said.

Two passenger buses and a heavy-duty truck rammed into each other successively at about 5:00 a.m. Tuesday on a highway in Futian Township of Shangli County. Five people were killed and 30 others were injured, 11 of them seriously. All the injured were hospitalized immediately.

Nine of the 11 seriously injured people were out of danger by press time, according to local hospital sources.

Investigation into the cause of the accident is still under way.
