More than six million people crossed China's borders during the Spring Festival holiday, lasting from January 28 to February 4, up 6 percent over the last Spring Festival.

The information was announced by the Exit and Entry Administration of the Ministry of Public Security here on Monday.

The ministry source said 3,530 people were found illegally crossing China's borders during the Spring Festival.

More than 140,000 cars, ships, planes and trains crossed China's borders during the week, up 4 percent on last year's Spring Festival.

The number of passengers travelling to Hong Kong and Southeast Asian countries increased markedly during the Spring Festival due to the operation of the Disneyland theme park in Hong Kong, according to the ministry source.
