An explosion at chemistry laboratory in central Jakarta Thursday injured four students, local officials and media reports said.

The blast damaged the laboratory located in the grounds of the country's Food and Drug Agency and panicked people living close by, said Kardiono, a staffer at the agency.

Metro TV reported at least four students who were taking an exam at the time sustained light injuries.

There was no immediate word on the source of the explosion.
