Actor Chris Penn found dead in Santa Monica

Actor Chris Penn, 43, was found dead in his Santa Monica condominium Tuesday. Authorities are investigating the cause of his death, but said they do not suspect foul play.

Penn, the younger brother of actor Sean Penn, specialized in working-class, regular-guy kinds of characters, and had roles in long list of movies and television programs during a career that spanned more than two decades.

Santa Monica Police responding to a call found Penn in his unit on the first floor of his building at 1033 Ocean Avenue just after 4 p.m. Tuesday, said Lt. Frank Fabrega.

Though less prominent than his brother, the younger Penn won praise for a series of supporting roles in major films, including "Footloose" and "Reservoir Dogs.
