Eight people trapped underground as a discarded iron mine collapsed Monday in Anyang City, central China's Henan Province had faint hope for survival, experts with the local work safety administration confirmed on Friday.

At around 1:05 Monday afternoon, an iron mine discarded in 1992 collapsed, burying eight people.

The accident formed a pit 100 meters long, 50 meters wide and 60-70 meters deep. All of the victims were male aged in 20 to 50.

Preliminary probe by local geologists said the accident was a geological disaster.
