The per capita disposable income for urban residents in south China's
Guangdong Province rose by 7.8 percent in the first eight months of the year.
Information provided by Guangdong Provincial Statistical Bureau said the per
capita disposable income of urban residents in Guangdong totaled 10,086.8 yuan
(about 1,243.75 US dollars) during January-August period of the year.
By late August, the outstanding sum of residents' bank deposits reached 1.93
trillion yuan (about 238.74 billion US dollars), an increase of 173.1 billion
yuan (about 21.34 billion US dollars) on the statistics recorded at the
beginning of the year.
Guangdong, which borders Hong Kong and Macao, has achieved an economic
miracle since it was assigned with the task of piloting China's reform and
opening-up drive more than two decades ago. It has become a global base of
processing trade and one of the economically developed regions in
China.
