Aerobics instructors paid more
You can expect to pay wedding emcees less this year, but the price of a part-time aerobics instructor could rise by 50 percent, according to the latest set of part-time job payment guidelines. The guidelines are released by the Shanghai Labor and Social Security Bureau twice a year, and offer suggested payment levels for 35 part-time jobs this time. The suggested payment for wedding ceremony emcees, which used to be the best-paid, dropped from 850 yuan (US$105) in the first half to 800 yuan per wedding on the recent list. The suggested wage for beautician for brides decreased by 50 yuan to 350 yuan a wedding. Huang Yizhou, an official with the bureau's salary division, said that the pay decrease could be attributed to a decreasing number of marriages this year - an unlucky year to tie the knot according to the Chinese lunar calender - as well as increasingly fierce competition between agencies. With more people joining gyms and getting exercise, wages for fitness instructors are rising. The guideline suggested that part-time step aerobics instructors should earn 150 yuan an hour - a 50 percent increase from the first half of this year. The suggested wages for part-time table tennis, badminton and swimming
coaches, also rose by 10 yuan to 20 yuan, to reach about 100 yuan an hour.
