Oscar-winning Australian superstar Nicole Kidman is to star as a gold-digging husband-hunter in a movie adaptation of the comic novel "Headhunters," the industry press said.

The 38-year-old winner of the 2003 Best Actress Academy Award for "The Hours" will also produce the movie, based on Jules Bass' novel, Daily Variety reported.

Kidman will play one of four women from New Jersey who go to Monte Carlo and pretend to be rich heiresses in the hope of landing wealthy husbands.

But the quartet are caught out by four down-on-their-luck gigolos trying to pass themselves off as wealthy playboys.

Rick Schwartz of Blueprint Films will co-produce the film with Kidman, while brothers Jez and John Henry Butterworth will pen the screenplay. Jez Butterworth wrote the script of Kidman's film "Birthday Girl."
