People's Bank of China Governor Zhou Xiaochuan
and U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow shake hands before they hold private
talks at International Monetary Fund Headquarters in Washington, Saturday,
Sept. 24, 2005. Snow earlier praised China for its recent currency reform
measures, especially a decision by China in July to free the yuan from its
dollar peg, allowing it to appreciate 2.1 percent against the US
