An all-out effort should be made to optimize the environment for investment and starting businesses, said Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi when visiting central China's Jiangxi Province from September 12 to 14.

As the economic globalization process is accelerating and China is in its post-transitional period since its accession to the World Trade Organization, the "soft environment" should be safeguarded so as to attract foreign funds with higher quality, she said.

Wu attached great importance to the protection of intellectual property rights, saying great effort should be made to attract more overseas students to come back and start businesses in China.

Wu paid a visit to some Chinese and overseas enterprises in Nanchang economic and technological development zone, as well as medical cooperative facilities in the rural areas.

She expressed hope that Jiangxi would grasp the rare historical opportunity and make full use of its unique resources and geographic advantages in future economic construction.
