Chinese leaders lay flowers to monument of heroes

People from all walks of life attend the grand gathering on Sunday morning to mark the the 60th anniversary of the Chinese people's victory in the war against Japanese aggression and the victory of the world anti-fascist war. [cctv]

At 9:00, Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Liu Qi declared the start of the ceremony. After the firing of 60 salute cannons, 18 soliders lifted nine floral baskets and carried them to the monument. [cctv]
