Everton and Monaco received potentially tough draws Friday for the first round of the UEFA Cup after both clubs narrowly lost in this week's final qualifying round of the Champions League.

Everton, which lost to Spain's Villarrealad, will travel to Romania for the first leg against Dinamo Bucharest while Monaco hosts Willem II of the Netherlands, trying to atone for its elimination by Spain's Real Betis.

The first legs are Sept. 15 and the second legs Sept. 29. The winners advance to the group phase, which leads to the knockout rounds.

Defending champion CSKA Moscow meets FC Midtjylland of Denmark and losing finalist Sporting Lisbon faces Halmstads BK of Sweden.

Also, England's Bolton Wanderers meets Bulgaria's Lokomotiv Plovdiv, and England's Middlesbrough plays Greece's Xanthi.
