Soccer-Tevez gets three-match ban for swearing at ref
Corinthians striker Carlos Tevez was given a three-match ban by Brazilian football's disciplinary tribunal on Friday for swearing at a referee who sent him off. The Argentine international, signed from Boca Juniors for a South American record fee of $18 million last year, was dismissed during the 2-0 defeat by Sao Caetano. He has already served one match of the ban. The decision is another blow for the Brazilian championship leaders who earlier this week had fullback Edson banned for 120 days for punching an opponent in the neck. Earlier on Friday, Tevez left a Corinthians training session early, fuelling speculation he had a row with coach Marcio Bittencourt. Bittencourt angrily denied reports that Tevez had abandoned the practice without permission. "Some journalists just see ghosts," he said. Earlier this year, Tevez was involved in a training session punch-up with another player which was broadcast on national television.
