China to improve its tourism industry

China plans to improve its tourism industry in the next 5 years, a senior tourism official said here On Monday.

Wang Zhifa with the China National Tourism Administration said in Guiyang that tourism income in 2004 totaled up to 684 billion yuan, 5 percent of that year’s GDP.

China is pondering over how to provide a better tourism service for travelers, he added.

The number of foreign tourists to China ranks number four and relevant revenues number seven in the world.
