Sir Alex Ferguson has no interest in bringing Michael Owen to Manchester United Football Club, claims John Buchanan.

The Australian cricket coach met up with the Reds manager during a tour of Old Trafford, and he has revealed the Scot is no lining up a move for the out-of-favour Real Madrid striker.

"He talked a little bit about Michael Owen and he doesn't really see his style of play fitting in with Man United," Buchanan said. "That's one of the reasons they're not going for him.Ħħ

It now looks increasingly likely that Owen will remain at the Bernabeu at least until Christmas, when he will take stock of his situation ahead of the New Year transfer window.
