Brown agrees to coach Knicks

coach New York Knicks in a deal that will make him the highest-paid coach in
American profession sports history, the New York Daily News reported on
Wednesday.
The newspaper said details would be confirmed on Wednesday to make Brown the
New York Knicks's 22nd coach and the fourth for the Knicks in the past 19
months.
Brown will be given a five- or six-year deal worth between 50 million and 60
million dollars, according to the report.
New York Knicks only won 33 games in the last season and has not won a
playoff series since 2000.
Brown, who turns 65 in September, guided the Detroit Pistons to the 2004 NBA
title and into last season's NBA Finals before losing a seventh-game showdown to
the San Antonio Spurs.
Hip surgery last November and a bladder condition that developed as a result
caused Brown to miss 17 games last season and it is believed his inability to be
certain of coaching a full season this coming season led to his dismissal by the
Pistons.
