The 29-member Chinese badminton team won three titles in the Singapore Open
badminton tournament, which ended on Sunday night following a 7-day fierce
competition among players from a number of countries and regions across the
world.
World number two Zhang Ning, winner of last year's Singapore Open badminton
tournament, regained the Women's Singles title after defeating her fellow
Chinese Zhou Mi 11-5, 11-7 .
In the Women's Doubles competition, China's Zhang Dan/Zhang Yawen won against
compatriots Gao Ling and Huang Sui by 15-13, 15-10.
In the Mixed Doubles competition, Zhang Jun/Gao Ling beat Sudket
Prapakamol/Saralee Thungthongkam of Thailand 10-15, 15-7 and 15-5.
In the Men's Singles competition, China's Chen Hong was defeated by
Indonesia's Taufik Hidayat, who won the title by 15-9 and 15-3.
The Men's Doubles was the only final not to feature any Chinese players.
Sigit Bugiarto and Candra Wijaya of Indonesia defeated Denmark's Mathias Boe and
Carsten Mogensen by 8-15, 15-8 and 15-7.
Last year, the Chinese team only won the Women' s Singles and Women's Doubles
titles in the Singapore Open badminton tournament.
