Wang Hongni wins Singapore Triathlon champion

Chinese sportswoman Wang Hongni won the champion in the women's elite race of the Singapore Triathlon held in the East Coast Park of the city state on Sunday.

It took her two hours, two minutes and 42 seconds to finish the three events which include a 1.5-km swim, 40-km cycling and a 10-km run.

Chris Hill from Australia clinched victory of the men's elite race in 1 hour, 51 minutes and 42 seconds.

The Asian Triathlon Confederation (ASTC) organizes the Asian Triathlon Championship (ATC) every year at one of its selected member countries, which comes to Singapore this year.

Founded in June 1991, two years after the International Triathlon Union (ITU) was formed, ASTC has a total of 14 members including China, China's Hong Kong, India, Japan and Singapore.
