Two Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force vehicles based in Iraq were damaged on
Thursday by a roadside explosion near the GSDF camp in the southern city of
Samawah, Iraqi police and Japanese government officials said.
There have been no reports of injuries in the incident, they said. The
Japanese Defense Agency said all GSDF personnel stationed in Samawah are safe.
Japanese Defense Agency officials said the windshields of the two vehicles
were damaged.
The explosion occurred at around 9:30 a.m. just after a four-vehicle GSDF
convoy passed through on its way to a construction site, the officials
said.
