A man wearing explosives under a police uniform set them off in heavily guarded Baghdad police academy on Saturday, killing five people.

Iraqi Army soldiers from the First Brigade, First Battalion, patrol the Kharkh District in Central Baghdad, Iraq, Friday, June 10, 2005. One of Baghdad's safest neighborhoods, this area is patrolled with minimal U.S. military assistance by the Iraqi Army's First Brigade, First Battalion, who are trained by the Louisiana Army National Guard's 256 Brigade. Police said seven people were wounded in the attack targeting the headquarters of the Wolf Brigade, a feared commando force headed by a top leader of Iraq's largest Shiite Muslim political party.

Most of them were policemen, said Maj. Falah al-Mahamdawi, a witness.

Sunni Arab leaders have accused the Wolf Brigade, which is attached to the Interior Ministry, of kidnapping and killing members of Iraq's minority Sunni community, including clerics.

The ministry has denied such claims.
