Nine people were confirmed dead and another 21 were injured in a bus accident in Chuzhou City, east China's Anhui Province, local police said on Friday.

All the wounded passengers are in stable condition, according to a local hospital.

A bus running in rain from Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, to Mingguang City in Anhui Province, bumped on arail fence of a river bridge and rolled over down into the river at a section of No. 104 national highway trunk at 3:45 Thursday afternoon.

Initial investigation showed the accident was led by slippage and incorrect operation of the drive. Police are probing deep into the case.
