Portuguese star Luis Figo said Tuesday his decision to return to the national team had nothing to do with his situation in Real Madrid.

"The reason for my return has nothing to do with my situation in Real Madrid, I want to go back because of the support of Portugal coach Luis Felipe Scolari and the Portuguese Soccer Federation (FPF)," he said.

Figo, who has been removed from the lineup of Real Madrid, said he had nothing to prove.
