Tim Duncan scored 30 points and Manu Ginobili nailed a string of late
baskets to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 111-108 road win over the
Phoenix Suns in Game Two of their Western Conference finals series on
Tuesday.
Ginobili collected 26 points and Tony Parker added 24 while shadowing
Suns NBA MVP Steve Nash to send the Spurs home to San Antonio for Game
Three of the best-of-seven series on Saturday with a commanding 2-0 lead.
The Spurs continued to get big contributions off the bench, Robert
Horry hitting for 10 points including a key three-pointer that put San
Antonio in front to stay.
It was the third straight playoff road win for the Spurs, who were
inspired by Duncan's 25-point second half display.
"Championship teams always have to win on the road," said Ginobili, who
captained Argentina to the gold medal at the Athens Olympics.
"You have to step up. "
"We can't be satisfied, we want to go home and win it there if we can."
Amare Stoudemire registered a game-high 37 points and added eight
rebounds to lead the Suns, while Nash added 29 points and 15 rebounds but
watched his three-point attempt at the buzzer clang of the rim.
It was still a record setting night for Nash, who became the first
player to register at least 25 points and 10 assists in four consecutive
playoff games.

No team as ever dropped the first two home games of a conference final
and rallied to win the series but the Suns will be buoyed by their 31-10
regular season road record,
which was the best in the NBA.
The Suns also expect to have Joe Johnson, their third leading scorer,
back in the line-up for Game Three.
However, the Spurs seldom lose at home and are 43-4 this season,
including the playoffs.
"We can win there just as well as we can
win here," Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni said.
"We're going to play like it's Game Six."
"We didn't make the stops when we had to, we came up a little short."
Once again, the Spurs dominated the fourth quarter where they have
outscored the Suns 74-55.
Trailing 85-80 entering the final period, the Spurs used a 7-0 run to
go in front 107-102, Horry hitting a three pointer and Ginobili chipping
in with a spectacular layup and pinpoint jumper.
With the Phoenix crowd on their feet, the Suns battled back but could
never regain the lead.
"They played championship basketball," D'Antoni
said.
