China reports rising export of textiles

China's textile export grew steadily in the first quarter of 2005, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The export value reached US$22.4 billion during the period, growing 19.1 percent year-on-year. The growth rate dropped 5.6 percent year-on-year.

The export of textile yarn, fabric and products grew 24.8 percent and that of clothes grew 15.9 percent. The rate of growth for all products was lower than in first quarter 2004.

Meanwhile, the export of electromechanical products rose by 34.4 percent to US$85.4 billion, and that for high-tech products also grew by 32.3 percent to US$43.7 billion in the first three months.
