Loud explosion heard in central Baghdad

A loud explosion was heard in central Baghdad on Tuesday. Thick black smoke
was seen rising from the direction of the heavily fortified Green Zone, home to
government offices, foreign embassies and the U.S. military.
The U.S. military had no immediate information and it was not known what
caused the blast or where it occurred.
Iraq's incoming Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari was meeting Tuesday with
the presidential council to try to finalize the remaining seats in his Cabinet
before Iraq's first democratically elected government was to be sworn
in.
