An unidentified man wielding knife hijacked a Mercedez-Benz in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province Friday afternoon, taking a woman, the car driver, and her little son hostage.

The gunman seized the luxury car in a blink after the woman picked up her son from the kindergarten, threatening her with the knife to drive.

According to sources from the local police department, the scared woman jumped down the car at a traffic light, shouting for help at about 5:00 pm.

Police and negotiating expert rushed to the site after getting the report. They closed off sections of the roads to carry out rescue operation. After 10 attempts to persuade the hijacker to surrender failed, the police, in order to protect the child still in the car, agreed to the woman's request to get into the car again and drive away as asked by the hijack suspect.

The car drove towards Shanghai. Shanghai police were informed of the coming car.

Under the assistance of Shanghai police, the suspect has been arrested this morning. The woman and her son were successfully rescued. The little boy was slightly injured and hospitalized in Shanghai.

Now, the case is under the investigation of the police.
