23 killed as truck overturns in northern India

At least 23 people were killed and 37 injured Saturday when a truck in which they were traveling overturned in northern India, the Press Trust of India reported.

The mishap occurred near villiage Khurd, 16 km from Morena whenaround 60 vehicles carrying followers of Baba Jai Gurudev fromMathura in Uttar Pradesh in northern India were proceeding toAmbah, and one of the trucks overturned while negotiating a sharpturn near Kwari river.

The victims were going to Ambah to take part in a religiousfunction.

Efforts are on to ascertain the identity of the victims and theinjured have been admitted to a district hospital.
