Celebrated Chinese mainland comedian actor Ge You's first try in thriller film "Suffocation" did moderately well at the box office over the weekend.

The suspense movie starring Ge You and Qin Hailu has pocketed dozens of millions in three days.

Ge You plays a photographer with a mental health problem that's haunted by his dead wife who killed by him for having an affair.

The publisher says one of the main reasons why people are going to the film is Ge You's performance and his excellent interpretation of psychological suffering and the struggle between good and evil.

"Suffocation" will also run in the Italian Eastern Film Festival on 22nd of this month. It is the first time that a Chinese suspense film has been nominated in an international film festival.
