Psychological hotline sees rising calls (China Daily) Updated: 2005-04-15 09:44
The first government-sponsored psychological consultation hotline opened in
Beijing on Sunday.
Fourteen psychological consultants answered 289 calls on the first day. Three
fainted due to the workload and were sent home.
The first day showed the psychological health of the elderly is the most
pressing issue. Li Xiaotong, director of the hotline, said most of the
consultants are only part-time, which is not sufficient to meet the demand for
such a service, the Beijing Times reports.
